Ideas To Keep Dinner Interesting

When it comes to the nightly meal of the day – dinner meals easily become a victim of repetitive entrees and side dishes. Some individuals and families find themselves stuck in a rut, preparing some of the same meals on a weekly basis – fish on Friday, Meatloaf Monday, bland corn, white rice, and lifeless mashed potatoes. To keep dinner fun, fresh, and in many cases, exciting – there are plenty of ways to stop the boredom that comes with fixing and eating the same dishes. A few ideas include:
1) Try New Recipes
Whether you scan the cookbooks lining the library shelves or browse the infinite number of online resources, there are plenty of recipes awaiting the eager cook. New recipes add excitement and new flavors that not only add spice to the dining room table, but also awaken the taste buds. You never know if you don’t like something if you never try it. Why not experiment with veal or make your first gumbo?
2) Try New Ingredients
Sometimes you can transform an old favorite by simply substituting the ingredients you normally use. There are thousands of different spices, meats, vegetables, fruits, sauces, and other cooking ingredients that you are unaware of. This is also a great chance to explore some of the different worldwide methods of cooking, as you consider the use of cilantro, rose petals, Adobo, hummus, and oyster sauce.
3) Theme Night of the Week
To spice up the dinnertime you have grown accustomed to, theme nights create a great break from the norm. You may select a day of the week that is especially set aside for a particular theme of your choice, such as “Dinner and a Movie.” When preparing a mealtime your family will never forget, you may choose to explore another culture. A few theme night feasts may include: Italian (pizza, cannoli, lasagna); Asian (spring rolls, chicken stir fry, fortune cookies); Middle Eastern (pita sandwiches, falafel); or French (croissant sandwiches, quiche, crepes).
4) Breakfast Food At Night
When you’re tired of the meat and potatoes dinner, there is nothing wrong with setting a hot, stack of pancakes on the table for the last meal of the day. Omelets, waffles, French toast, scrambled eggs and bacon, all make great selections for a dinner that breaks from the norm.
5) Fun Presentation Ideas
Perhaps the things you cook for dinner taste great and are crowd pleasers, but you want to step up the level of enjoyment. Enhanced presentation of food not only heightens the interest of the meal, but also gets the conversation going around the dinner table. One of the most attention-grabbing ideas for meals includes fruit and vegetable carving, where radishes, apples, oranges, and melons become works of art. Sometimes, dinner plates may showcase a bright explosion of foods, arranged according to the colors of the rainbow.
6) Decoration, Decoration, Decoration
To encourage a more enjoyable dinner meal, decorating the dining room table is a great way to boost the level of delight, including colorful napkins, inviting candles, fun silverware choices, decorative tablecloths, new cups and glasses, or beautiful spreads of flowers and plants.
7) Change The Scenery
Sometimes the food served during dinner isn’t the boring part of mealtime, but the monotonous seating and setting at the dining room table sometimes becomes the problem. To change up the scenery, make arrangements to have a picnic dinner, gather on the patio to watch the sun set over a delicious home cooked meal, or plan a laidback feast to enjoy in the family room. Why not hold an outdoor Hawaiian luau, where the backyard is transformed into an island paradise with roasted pineapple, grilled food, and leis?
Overall, if you think coming up with your own creative meal ideas is hard, there are plenty of cooking resources and meal planners to consider. For example, to help cooks keep dinner interesting, culinary exploration reports offered at Menu Planning Central help add life, creativity, and imagination.

Snacks are an important part of a healthy lifestyle. Healthy snacks can help provide extra nutrients and also count towards our five a day target of fruit and vegetables. Healthy natural snacks should be eaten between meals and will help towards your health and nutrition. Nutritionists recommend that healthy snacks should contain vegetables, fruit, nuts or cereal grains. They will also cost you less than buying junk food that has little nutritional value and is bad for your health. Combining healthy snacks with a good diet and exercise leads to an improved wellbeing. The five ideas below, for healthy snacks, are suitable for everyone from school children to those at work.
Avocado and cheese sandwich made with whole meal bread. Avocados are a good source of vitamin E and C as well as being high in fiber and potassium. They also contain folic acid, an important vitamin for pregnant women. Cheese contains important levels of calcium and whole meal bread is high in fiber.
Dried banana chips. Dried banana chips are often fried in coconut oil and coated in honey. Bananas contain high levels of vitamin A and C. They are also rich in potassium. You can often find banana chips included in muesli. Great for a carbohydrate boost.
Crackers and cheese. A very popular snack after dinner. Cheese is high in calcium. Crackers also come in whole meal varieties and these are a good source of extra fiber.
Fruit salad. You can combine any of your favorite fruits in this snack such as kiwi fruit, apples, pear, and nectarines. This snack will help you towards your five a day of fruit and vegetables.
Hummus in pita bread. Hummus is made from dried chickpeas, garlic and sometimes tahini. Hummus contains fiber and iron; tahini is made from sesame seeds and is high in calcium.

Things You Should Know About Drinking Water

It seems in life that most people take for granted the things that are most important to them and drinking water is no exception. It is a fact that no one can survive without clean pure drinking water and it is important to note some critical facts:
1. More than 35,000 people die each day throughout the world from disease caused by impure or lack of drinking water. That equals more than 12,000,000 per year or more than the per year total killed in each of the six years of World War II.
2. The absence of clean drinking water and sanitation is one of the largest causes of death and loss of productivity throughout the world.
3. Three to four of every five children related deaths are directly related to unsanitary or contaminated drinking water.
4. Municipal water supplies in the United States, although regulated by the Environmental protection agency (EPA) still contain a large number of contaminants. Many types of bottled water also contain contaminants.
5. Purified water using a distillation/oxygenation process produces the highest quality drinking water.
It is a fact that because of urban growth and industrial pollution, drinking water is becoming more polluted and water related health hazards are increasing. Heavier amounts of chlorine are being added to kill bacteria but this ruins the fresh water taste.
Polluted or contaminated water is particularly harmful to young children and may cause health problems that do not surface until years later.
Municipal tap water is contaminated as is spring and well water and the fact that these sources of water are regulated does not remove the contamination. Obtain the most recent EPA water quality for your municipality and study it closely.
With the exception of purified bottled water, most bottled water is subject to the same or greater amounts of contamination. Spring water is either re-bottled tap water or particularly susceptible to industrial pollution.
Distilled/oxygenated purified water on the other hand separates pure water from contaminants and flushes the waste down the drain leaving only 100% pure water.
Ask questions and read the labels of municipal or bottled water to determine what is really contained in the water you drink. Then decide how much contamination your body can tolerate over an extended period.
I think after even a moderate amount of research you will agree that purified, distilled water will aid in the longevity of yourself and your family.

Benefits Of White Tea

It is not just chefs but also medical researchers who are praising the benefits of white tea for your health. In fact there are many different kinds of benefit of white tea that a person can have and we will look at some people. But first we will provide you with a brief explanation as to what white tea is. It is made from the immature tea leaves that will be picked before the buds have fully opened on the plant. The name comes from the silver fuzz which still covers the buds and this in turn then turns the tea white as it dries. There are many different varieties of white tea available and this all depends on the amount of leaves to buds that are used in each mixture. The White Peony for example has one bud for every 2 leaves in its mixture whilst Silver Needles (the crème de la crème) is made entirely from the down buds and these are normally picked within a 2 day period during early Spring.
So we have now looked at what White Tea is we will now go on to the different benefits a person can gain from using this particular product.
1. Anti-Viral and Anti-Bacterial Effects
Studies carried out at Pace University have indicated that White Tea extract may have prophylactic applications which can help to retard the growth of bacteria which can cause Staphylococcus infections, Streptococcus infections, Pneumonia and Dental Caries. It was also found that White Tea is more effective than Green Tea at inactivating bacterial viruses as well as having an anti-viral effect on human pathogenic viruses.
2. Anti-Fungal Effect
There have been studies carried out which indicate that this has an anti-fungal effect on Penicillium Chrysogenum and Saccharomyces Cerevisiae. It was found that in the presence of White Tea extract these were totally inactivated.
3. Skin Cancer and Cell Damage Protection
Scientists have now found that the White Tea extract can protect against the Langerhans cell obliteration. It was found that not only the extract protected skin after exposure to sunlight but also a person’s immune system was restored also. They also found that the DNA damage which occurs to cells after exposure to sunlight was limited. It is believed that the anti-oxidant properties in the White Tea extract are the reason for it being so effective. It is also suggested that the extract may provide a person with anti-aging benefits.
So as you can see from above there are many reasons as to what the benefit of white tea can have for a person in order to help them live a much healthier and happier life.

A Cup Of Tea To Combat Cancer
March 28, 2011 by Noel Ireland

Generations of families in India and Asia have been turning to tea to cure what ails them. Back in the year 1191, a Zen priest penned a work entitled the Book of Tea, which told how green tea could benefit at least five vital organs, including the heart. At that time, green tea was thought to improve urinary and brain function, combat beriberi disease, and alleviate indigestion. In other words, green tea was considered to be a multi-purpose elixir, able to treat a wide variety of health problems.
But this ancient remedy has now found a place in modern scientific literature, thanks to a new wave of studies on the medicinal properties of green tea. While studies on human subjects have been inconclusive, initial evidence from the laboratory looks incredibly promising.
While green tea can be beneficial in attacking everything from high cholesterol to depression, it has perhaps gotten the most attention for its impact on cancer. In order to understand the significance of this, it is first necessary to have some knowledge of the disease of cancer itself.
Cancer: A Disease of the Genes
When cancer occurs, cells divide uncontrollably, meaning that the genes controlling cell growth have been damaged in some way. In fact, a gene has to mutate a number of times before a typical cell will change into a cancer cell.
Antioxidants are important because they can stop the enzyme activities that give rise to cancer. In essence, they repair DNA problems which have been caused by oxidants, or free radicals.
Green Tea—A Natural Antioxidant
Green tea has been considered a godsend for good health because it contains antioxidants known as catechins. These substances have been called impressive inhibitors of cancer growth. Here’s how they do it: lab tests show that they combat oxidants prior to cell injuries, stop the growth of tumor cells, and reduce the occurrence of tumors.
For instance, mice tumors were found to shrink when the lab animals ingested green tea. This phenomenon occurred whether the cancer affected the liver, the skin, or the stomach.
Green Tea and Cancer Prevention
In an article which appeared in the Journal of Cellular Biochemistry, authors Santosh Katiyar and Hasan Mukhtar noted that the special properties found in tea can help prevent cancer, according to the experimental data available. This is significant, considering the wide availability of tea. As the authors recognize, tea is grown in about 30 different countries and it’s considered to be the most popular beverage worldwide.
Most scientific studies using tea have focused on the therapeutic effects of green tea. In these lab tests, the green tea is fed to mice as an extract in water or in a purified form. Green tea has even been found to have some positive medicinal effect before birth in the womb.
A Variety of Uses
Interestingly enough, medical research shows that the benefits of green tea are not limited to combating only one type of cancer. In fact, consuming green tea may help prevent the development of cancers of the stomach, lungs, esophagus, pancreas, liver, breast, and colon.
Still, even researchers admit that the reasons behind green tea’s broad therapeutic effects are not clear. A number of theories have been put forward—theories which require further investigation.
The Effects of Tea Drinking on Human Beings
Much of what we know about green tea’s effects comes from animal studies. While some research indicates that tea drinkers are less prone to cancer, other studies offer a conflicting view. This may be because there are a number of environmental factors which can contribute to the development of cancer, including diet, carcinogens in one’s living space, and the like.
Still, in China, where green tea is particularly popular, research results are encouraging. A study of more than 18,000 Chinese men found that tea drinkers were far less likely to experience stomach cancer than non-tea drinkers. Yet, a Netherlands study involving tens of thousands of men and women indicated there was no link between drinking tea and cancer prevention.
The Continuing Medical Debate
The debate over the health benefits of green tea continues at the highest levels of government and academia. For instance, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration asserts that green tea does not reduce the risk of breast, prostate, or any other type of cancer. The FDA also states that green tea does not reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.
However, a study published in the fall of 2006 in the Journal of the American Medical Association directly contradicts the FDA’s contentions. That study indicated that drinking three or more cups of green tea could reduce the risk of death from heart disease.
Future Research Possibilities
Yet, there is a continued push toward additional research of the green tea phenomenon. For instance, the National Cancer Institute is especially interested in exploring the ability of green tea to prevent skin cancer. Researchers are examining the effects of both green tea in pill form and green tea creams applied directly to the skin.

Live A Life Of Health And Fitness

With cancer cropping up left and right, people are suddenly becoming more conscious with what they eat and do with their bodies. Fad diets have become a craze and so are gym workouts and alternative exercise for the body. But despite being the in thing to do right now, some people still find it hard to start walking the road to a life of health and fitness. After all, when you have already lived a life of debauchery, it will be harder to convert and walk the other road even if it is not as less traveled by.
To help you, here are some of the ways that you can start with your healthy lifestyle.
1. Don’t smoke if you do not have the habit of smoking, good for you. Don’t try to start as you will only get addicted with the cigarettes and it will be harder to quit when that happens. It is not true that you can smoke and quite when you want to. It’s not. Once you become hooked into it, there is no turning back. If you are already part of those people who burn their lungs out everyday, the best bet is to make a commitment to quit. By doing this, you are already halfway to recovery. Make sure though that you are serious with your plans and you are not just doing it for any other reason than your health.
2. Lessen the junk One of the ways you can help keep your body healthy is to eat foods that are more natural and with less chemical content. Avoid eating junk foods like those huge packs of potato chips or binge on candies. You should also make it a point to lessen your intake of meats and consume more vegetables, fruits and seafood. This does not mean that you will forgo with meat altogether. You should still eat meat. The protein that it contains is important for some of the basic processes of the body.
3. Skip the Soda and even the iced tea As much as you can, drink water. This is the safest and healthiest drink there is. Sodas even the diet ones, are carbonated and contain high amounts of sugar and carbohydrates which can later be translated into fats. You can also try drinking green tea which can help in the digestive system. Iced tea may be tamer than sodas but these drinks also contain a lot of sugar which can pile up in the body. Stick to water and drink lots of it.
4. Stay active another way to start living a life of health and fitness without having to shell out money and make lots of effort is to schedule an exercise routine every day. You can schedule it every morning when you wake up in the morning or do it at night after work. Whichever schedule you want to, make sure that you keep it to 30 minutes long to an hour. That way, you can exercise those muscles and avoid muscle pains. Exercise will also strengthen your bones and your body, promote better breathing and cellular activity, clear the brain and of course keep those extra calories out of the body. Thus, even if you eat a lot, you are not storing those fats and carbohydrates. You are expending them through your workout routine.

Health and fitness is most of the time associated with physical appearance—especially weight. And why not? It is the weight of the person can tell whether he or she is living a healthy lifestyle due to the foods and habits that he or she has.
For those who think that their weight greatly affects their self-esteem because of physical appearance, health, emotional stability, physical abilities and the overall quality of their life in general, then it is about time that they contemplate on losing weight.
When does losing should start
People who have finally decided to lose weight should know where to begin. First, he or she must determine the real reason or reasons why they would want to lose weight. By determining and establishing the reason/s why one would want to lose weight, this can help him or her because they can these as motivations during the weight loss phases they are about to face.

Tips in losing weight
Experts say that two of the most crucial factors that affect weight loss are food—or calorie—intake and the frequency of physical activities such as exercise. Although it may seem easy to monitor calorie intake and exercise regularly, it is not always effective especially if the person doing it is not determined and disciplined enough. For a person to achieve their weight loss goals here are some tips that they can use:
1. Don’t ever skip regular meals. You must not forget that food nourishes the body. Although dieting or cutting down on food intake can help one lose weight, this cannot assure permanent weight loss because they will tend to eat more the next meal and the meals after that.

Use Visualization To Lose Weight Part 2

In Part 1 of “Use Visualization To Lose Weight!”, the basics of how visualization works were covered.
Visualizations are done by you painting a picture of what you want in your mind. An example would be a picture of your beautiful, sexy body in a revealing bikini if you were a woman. Another example would be as a man with a hot ripped body of a Charles Atlas, which the ladies would find irresistible. However, you must make sure the image you paint is doable by you.
If you happen to be one of those people who have difficulty in painting the sexy body you want, it’s ok to use a picture back when you were thin and sexy. If that doesn’t work try the tactic of someone’s body you admired. Perhaps it could be someone like a celebrity.
You can find a picture of almost any celebrity on the Internet or in a magazine. Download it or cut it out of a magazine and remove the face from the picture and put your face on the body. That may sound a little “nutty” to you, but it works.
Once you have a workable image you must work that image; each and every day. Visualization will work best for you by taking a set time, if possible, 2 or 3 times a day and see your beautiful sexy body in your mind. You will be bringing it out of the subconscious part of your mind into the conscience part of your mind.
It is best to be in a quiet area when you do this. If you are at work perhaps you can slip into the stairwell or even the broom closet, as long as its quiet. You will need to spend several minutes each time doing this. Although it may seem hard at first, when you do it for a period of 30 days, it will become a habit for you.
One thing you may not have known it that you can target specific parts of your body one at a time. For an example you could focus on the “thunder thighs” slimmed down to an enchanting 36 inches. Or perhaps the “balloon butt” down to two well toned cheeks in a bikini bottom. Now is that hot or what!
Here is one last tip to give you a boost with your visualization and weight loss plan. When your going about your every day routine, reaffirm out loud or silently in your mind; “My body is so sexy and thin, I’m really glad that it is” or something similar. Whatever you do make sure it’s positive and right now not something in the future.
Some people also find this difficult to do. However, it’s really easy to print it out on a 3X5 card and carry it with you, wherever you go. Just whip it out when you feel your getting weak in your resolve. The first thing you know you will feel your weak moments being further and further apart.
You do know that your new sexy body is not going to happen overnight. But by using visualization and weight loss together it may well happen a lot sooner than you had hoped for.
It would be wise for you to read Part 1 of “Use Visualization To Lose Weight ” to have a full understanding of how visualization can help you lose weight.

Juicing Fruits And Vegetables and Your Diet
March 16, 2011 by Noel Ireland
Filed under Diet, Health and Fitness
Many people lead fast-paced lifestyles that leave little to no room for proper meals within the day. Most are even compelled to skip meals because of the odd number of things that they need to do, meetings to attend and appointments to fulfill. Over time, this way of life can take its toll on the body. It becomes susceptible to all sorts of diseases and injuries because it does not receive proper nourishment from a healthy diet.
There has been a growing concern over the rapid deterioration of health among professionals. If you have been living on instant meals for most of you life, you may be subjecting your body to more stress than usual.
It’s high time that you started watching what you eat.
The body needs proper nutrition for it to function properly. For people who are always on the go, incorporating fruit and vegetable juices in their daily meals is one of the many options that they can try. Juicing is an innovation that was popularized to provide an answer to the dilemma of being able to get the most out of vegetables and fruits.
While everyone understands the importance of eating fruits and vegetables, there are still a lot of people who are not too keen on the idea of eating their greens on every meal. Taking your fruits and vegetables in juice form is a good alternative especially if you don’t have much time to sit down for a proper meal.
There are lots of benefits that can be had from incorporating fresh fruit and vegetable juices in your diet. In fact, there are many aspects in which fresh juice can be much better than eating cooked or processed fruits and vegetables.
Maximized nutrition
Patients who are suffering from gastrointestinal problems are advised to go on a liquid diet because it’s much easier for the body to take liquids. The body is capable of absorbing nutrients much more efficiently when food is taken in juice form than when it is in solid form. This is mainly because it doesn’t take a lot of effort to digest juice and break its components down into simpler forms. With solid food, the stomach will need to work on breaking it down to turn it into a semi-liquid state before it is suitable for absorption into the bloodstream.
Cooking fruits and vegetables tends to cause nutrients in food to disappear. Heat can also destroy the enzymes found in these food products. Studies show that when vegetables are subjected to high temperatures, most of their nutritional value tends to get lost.
Juicing fresh fruits and vegetables helps to retain their nutritional value. It keeps enzymes viable and usable by the body. Without enzymes, several different processes in your system will cease to function. These compounds provide some sort of a go-signal for different chemical reactions in the body to start.
Hydration
Juicing is the most effective way to restore the body’s health because you’re preparing food in such a way that is easier for the body to process. It can also enhance your fluid intake as fruits and vegetables naturally contain water. Fresh juice not only provides you with most of the essential nutrients that you body needs, it also keeps you hydrated even when you don’t get to drink a lot of water throughout the day. With other types of drinks

Use Visualization To Lose Weight Part 1
March 15, 2011 by Noel Ireland

Are you tired of waking up and seeing your overweight body in the mirror? But in your mind you see the trim, beautiful, sexy body you had when you were younger. However, you know the reality is the body you see in the mirror. Don’t lose hope! You are already on the road to losing the pounds. How? You ask. Read on.
You still have that mental picture in your mind of how you used to look. Now you need to make your mind see that same picture in the future instead of in the past. You have been practicing visualization and weight loss and didn’t even know it. Now it’s time for you to shed those unsightly pounds by really putting your mind in control of your weight loss.
Before you can use visualizations to it’s fullest you need to get a good idea of how it works. What you to do is to paint a picture of the way you want your body to look when you get rid of all those ugly pounds. You hold this image in your mind and as you do; it will penetrate into the subconscious level of your brain.
When it has moved into your subconscisness it will program your body to start moving in that direction of “body beautiful”. This synergy from your mind will cause you to be motivated more easily towards your weight loss. Ultimately the end result is you will find it easier to stick to your diet plan and exercise program.
Presently it’s not fully understood how visualizing a goal, such as weight loss works, but more and more professionals agree that it does. What has been determined is that as long as you truly believe it’s what you want, then you can achieve it. However, in turn if you aren’t convinced you can lose weight, you won’t do it or you will have a much harder time of it.
It has been discovered that when loved ones and people that matter to you are negative about your goals they can impact your weight loss. The positive power of your visualizing your healthy body from your subconscious, can negate the negativity, created in your conscience mind by yourself and others.
Ok, now you have a basic understanding about using visualization and weight loss together. Let’s get into the actual ways you need to practice to work it effectively.
You must be sure the body you want is attainable. In other words don’t visualize a 5’4 petite body weighing 102 lbs, when you are 5’9″ and big boned. It ain’t going to happen. But if you take that same 5’9″ big boned body and put it in a bikini weighing in at between 140 to 160 lbs that can happen. Why; because it’s doable!
Part 2 of “Tips On Visualization And Weight Loss – Proven Way To Shed The Fat!” will go into more detail on how you can effectively utilize visualization to lose weight. Be sure and bookmark this page so you can benefit from the other tips.
